Meet David Martinez
David started a journey of serving his country and community when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at 18 years old. During this time David met and married his beautiful wife Cindy who was also a Marine. They have been married for 19 years and have two children.
As a Marine, David reached the rank of Sergeant, became a Reserve Police Officer with the Port Royal Police Department in South Carolina, and completed a B.S. in Criminal Justice. In 2005, David and Cindy moved to Gwinnett County where he accepted a position as a Gwinnett County Police Officer.
SUWANEE IS HOME
As a Gwinnett County Police Officer, David continued his passion for helping others and desire to be a servant leader. In 2015, his family experienced a tragedy. Cindy unexpectedly contracted flesh-eating bacteria. She survived a near-death experience but became a quadruple amputee.
Their faith in God, family, friends, and strangers helped them through this tough time. The support from the community and Gwinnett County Police Department provided them with an even greater passion for helping others. In 2020, David resigned as a Sergeant from the Gwinnett Police Department in good standing.
David is currently seeking a Doctorate in Criminal Justice and is the host of a podcast about police, preparedness, and crime. David and Cindy are also members of the Marine Corps League, Detachment 1083.
With the support of family and friends, David will strive to serve the residents in and around the City of Suwanee by preparing our community for future generations.
